NEWS FOR HEART OF MISSOURI MFA

wheat:  free storage but needs to be priced by August 1, 2025.

Livestock Risk Protection.
i have been locking in some LRP for calves born this spring with a policy end date of Oct/Nov at really good values.  LRP is a policy that allows you to take a position vs the cash cattle index for a known end date.  You can sell your calves up to 60 days prior to your end date or anytime after...you can retain ownership as well.  Other than buying Put options, which for the most part are sold in 40,000 pound increments, LRP allows you to lock in a level of protection on 1 calf at a time if you absolutely needed to.  I have no idea when the cattle market will go down, but a bird can only fly so high before it has to land.  seen that over and over again in the grain markets.  high prices will always cure high prices.  Hopefully we have a year or two before we have to worry about that, but it is a crazy volatile world.  farming isn't cheap...as a cow calf producer i have been covering my own calves and so far i am happy with how the lrp has allowed me to lock in some protection.  give me a call and we can discuss how it works.  Call Nathan Oglesby at the Glasgow location at 660-338-2252 or on my cell at 660-728-2252.

Thank you for your business!
